How many pawns?

This question was posed by Mr. Phil Innes, publisher of Vermont Views Magazine:

How many pawns of the same color are there from recorded games or the player's own experience that are on the same file?

The maximum is 6, and I think I have had tripled pawns only a few times in my life. So how many quadrupled pawns or more are recorded and what happened?
